Derbyshire's First Police & Crime Commissioner


Alan Charles has been elected as Derbyshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner.

The former Vice-Chair of Derbyshire Police Authority Alan, who lives in Killamarsh, North Derbyshire, has an in-depth understanding of local policing in Derbyshire, in addition to the issues on the regional and national landscape.

During his election campaign he pledged that as Derbyshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner he said he would:

  • Give an absolute commitment not to outsource or privatise Police Support Services and to buy UK goods wherever possible
  • Maintain Community Policing across Derbyshire
  • Protect vulnerable people, especially victims of Domestic Abuse
