Have Your Say 2012 Launches in Matlock

Posted on 27th April 2012

Matlock residents will be the first to have their say on policing in 2012, when this year’s public consultation on policing issues kicks off in Matlock on Friday, 4 May, 2012.

Representatives from Derbyshire Police Authority and Derbyshire Constabulary will be at Hall Leys Park in Matlock between 10.00am and 2.00pm to collect local views about policing in the area and discuss issues such as the forthcoming introduction of Police and Crime Commissioners.

The Matlock event is the first in a series of nine dedicated Have Your Say events taking place across Derbyshire taking in every local authority area. In addition, the Have Your Say team will attend various community events around the county.

Have Your Say will run throughout May and June. The information collected will provide both the Authority and the incoming Police and Crime Commissioner with up to date feedback from the diverse communities of Derbyshire. The information will also be made available to those developing the new Police and Crime Plan for future years.

Carole Brister, Chair of the Authority’s Citizen Focus Committee, urged people to take this opportunity to have their say. “It’s important that people take part, so that we can take note,” she said. “We are seeking views on local crime, anti social behaviour and communication which helps us to carry out a health check on policing in different parts of the county. The information that we get from people can then be used to shape the way local policing is delivered in the future.

“Have Your Say has always been popular with local people, both in person at these events and via the on-line survey which will be available on the Authority’s website.”

The events are supported by Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers and Special Constables as well as Police Authority members, Police Authority staff, police staff and members of partner organisations.

In addition to the survey, community safety information will be available and local officers will be on hand to give advice or discuss matters of concern.
