Police Authority Annual General Meeting

Posted on 16th June 2011

Derbyshire Police Authority will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 23 June 2011.

The meeting starts at 9.30am and will be held at Police Headquarters in Ripley. Members of the public are welcome to attend to observe the proceeding, listen to the debates and annual reviews of progress.

The elections will take place for the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Authority, positions currently held by elected members, Philip Hickson and Alan Charles respectively.

Members will also appoint chairs of the Authority’s various Committees and representatives to advisory panels, working groups and other partner organisations.

As with every full Authority meeting, there is the opportunity for members of the public to ask questions prior to the start of the meeting. Anyone wishing to ask a question should notify the Police Authority by midday 20th June.

Derbyshire Police Authority is a separate, independent, organisation from the Police Force. It works on behalf of local people to improve local policing and ensure that the service provided meets local needs.

The Authority does not carry out any operational policing, which is the Chief Constable’s responsibility. Its role includes involving local people in setting priorities, setting and monitoring the police budget, scrutinising performance and holding the Chief Constable to account for police performance.
