Derbyshire Police Authority currently runs two volunteer schemes across the county.
Volunteers provide a vital service, giving their time in order to reassure the local community that procedures at Police stations and within the kennels are properly applied and adhered to.
The two schemes run by the Authority are:-
The Independent Custody Visiting Scheme. This is a statutory requirement of the Authority. Independent Custody Visitors (ICV) check that people being detained in police custody are being given their rights and entitlements, and are being held in satisfactory conditions.
The Animal Welfare Scheme. Animal Welfare visitors ensure that Derbyshire Constabulary's police dogs are housed, trained and transported humanely and ethically.
